Glaucoma & Cataract, Prof. Eytan Blumenthal | Steroid drops are used to help the eye heal after surgery, and to treat various infectious conditions of the eye

Pred-Forte / Dexamycin / Sterodex / FML

Eye-drops that belong to the family of steroids, also called corticosteroids. They are anti-inflammatory and serve to decrease scarring. They are given after intraocular surgeries, such as cataract and glaucoma surgery. After glaucoma surgery, they are initially given very frequently (starting with one drop every hour, during the day), and then the dose is very gradually reduced, as the eye calms down and heals from the operation.
